Abstract
A participação feminina na música erudita tornou-se especialmente significativa no século XIX, em consequência de várias mudanças socioculturais que o caracterizaram. Apesar de frequentemente esquecida, Josephine Amann-Weinlich foi uma das maestras que mais se destacou nesta época, tendo sido pioneira na criação de uma orquestra exclusivamente feminina, intitulada Neues Wiener Damen-Orchester. O presente artigo explora o percurso profissional de Amann-Weinlich e das suas instrumentistas, reunindo informação sobre os seus sucessos, os problemas de género que enfrentaram e a influência que tiveram sobre outras mulheres, e termina com uma análise interseccional das nuances socioculturas subjacentes aos seus contextos.
