Abstract
O presente artigo prossegue um objectivo de compreensão e sistematização da informação sobre o que pode ser entendido como “as teorias do Serviço Social”. Com esse propósito faz-se uma proposta de categorização de quatro campos paradigmáticos em Serviço Social: funcionalismo, interpretativismo, estruturalismo e humanismo. A partir desta grelha inscrevem-se e analisam-se as teorias do Serviço Social, com destaque para o Serviço Social estrutural e crítico. Apresenta-se por fim a teoria da correlação de forças como uma abordagem ao Serviço Social que tenta superar as dicotomias da acção/estrutura e da ordem/conflito.
