Abstract
The following discussion looks at issues relating to the expansion of cross-border educational student mobilities in the contemporary European context. Although cross-border educational mobility is not a new phenomenon, levels of circulation have grown to unprecedented levels in the twenty-first century, diversifying into different short-term and long-duration formats. I argue that expansion
has positive and negative consequences, providing a means of contributing to the building of social and political unity in the European Union, but doing so in a manner that shows signs of having become unsustainable.
