Abstract
In diesem Kapitel wird zunächst der strenge Selektionsprozess über die zweijährigen Vorbereitungsklassen an renommierten Gymnasien und die Aufnahmeprüfungen der concours an die französischen Elitehochschulen charakterisiert; anschließend wird mit Bezug auf verschiedene Studien zu den grandes écoles auf das Problem der starken sozialen Selektivität dieser Einrichtungen eingegangen und Initiativen für deren soziale Öffnung erläutert, die vor allem seit 2000 zu verzeichnen sind.
