Joana Martinho Costa is Dean of the School of Applied Digital Technologies at Iscte-Sintra and Associate Professor. She holds a PhD in Education, with a specialisation in Information and Communication Technologies in Education, and has a background in Computer Engineering. Her research focuses on the digital transformation of education, particularly in the areas of Technology-Enhanced Learning, Artificial Intelligence in Education, programming education, and digital learning environments.
She has participated in several national and international projects with significant social impact, including initiatives within European and national digital transformation programmes. She is the Principal Investigator of the BRIDGE – Breaking Inequalities in Digital Education project, which focuses on reducing digital inequalities and promoting digital competencies in educational contexts. Her activities also include the coordination of higher education programmes, the supervision of Master’s and PhD students, and collaboration with schools and public institutions, contributing to pedagogical innovation and the development of applied knowledge in digital education.
